HAFU – Updates

It’s been well over a couple of months since our last news update, so we
thought it was time to write and say ‘Hi’, especially to those of you in the
Southern Hemisphere now experiencing the depths of winter!

It was great to catch up with a number of you at the Vintage Aviator WW1
Display Day at Hood Aerodrome in Masterton (NZ) back in April. The show was a real
stunner — the weather was great, and for the first time in a while TVAL was
able  to display their full collection of airworthy WW1 aircraft — no
serviceability issues cropped up this time around. In addition to all the old favourites,
there were three debuts: the Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2c, the Albatros D.Va and
the Sopwith Triplane. Watch out for TVALs next show in November (details below).

The Anzac show was also used as the official launch of our new book, On The
Wings of History. This was very successful with many people taking home a
fresh new copy of the book with at least a few pilots signatures in it.
Subsequent feedback and a review published in NZ Aviation News magazine indicates that
the book is a winner and worthwhile getting. If you haven’t yet got a copy,
see  below for details on our Mid-Winter Book Special, or talk to your local (NZ)
book store.
This weeks HAFU & Event news is:
* On The Wings of History — Mid-Winter Special
* New Online Videos
* Aviation Facebook Pages
* EVENT: Anzac Day World War 1 Airshow – 24th April 2010
* EVENT: Wings Over Wairarapa 2011 – 21st-23rd January 2011
* HAFU Quick Links

our new pictorial book catalogues and illustrates the development and
growth of the collection of full size World War One-era aircraft that The
The Vintage Aviator Ltd has maintained, built and operated throughout
the first decade of the 21st Century.

This book is:
A5 in format/size ,  Full colour throughout
Bound, not stapled and 116 pages long
plus it contains over 260 high quality contemporary photos of 47 different
World  War One aircraft and colour schemes. Over 90% of the photos in this book
have  never been published before, and the book contains 55 full page (A5) photos,
one for each aircraft, plus a few extras.

The book is now being distributed in New Zealand through the major book
retailers, so if you’d prefer to get your copy at your local bookstore you
should now be able to do so (though you won’t get the Collectors Cards).
If your local bookstore doesn’t have copies in stock, they should be able to
order it in for you.  Just quote the ISBN Number:   978-0-473-16677-9
*  New Online Videos

We’ve finally had a chance to upload a few more videos to the internet, and
have a few more yet to go over the next few weeks. Check out our YouTube
channel at:

*  Facebook Pages
Our recent experiments with Facebook have confirmed that it’s a good way to
stay in touch with many people all at once, and is also a great place to
share information and photographs.
Because of that we’ll now be using Facebook as a means to share our photo
albums with you, rather than the previous galleries on our main web site. Facebook
simply makes it easier to upload and maintain the albums, and add new photos
on a regular basis.  You’ll find us here:

Another Facebook site that is now garnering some attention is the new
Wings Over Wairarapa 2011 page. If you’re considering coming to the show
in January (details below), you should take a look at this page too:
